My Thoughts:
After the events of On Demon Wings, Perry returned to her parents’ home in Portland to heal while Dex returned to Seattle. Neither of them felt complete or happy about being apart, even if they wouldn’t admit it. When the network pressures Dex to start up Experiment in Terror again, Dex firmly says no to protect Perry, not wanting to expose her to any malevolent spirits if he can help it. But the opportunity to investigate Sasquatch in the mountains of Canada would be their first assignment—nothing ghostly—so he leaves it up to Perry if she wants to be involved again. Mythical monsters aren’t real, right? So what could a little hiking and camping in the mountains hurt?
Perry has changed for the better after being possessed and subsequently exorcised. She’s more confident, headstrong, and she’s the one that holds all the power in her relationship with Dex now. But she’s still hurting from his past betrayals and those of her parents and Maximus, so she’s unsure of where to go and what to do with her life. And when Dex offers her a way out from under the scrutinizing and disapproving glares of her parents, she grudgingly takes his offer to move in with him in Seattle.
Dex is a completely different man. He isn’t afraid to apologize to Perry, to practically grovel and beg and plead if he must to win her back. He won’t let her slip through his fingers again because she’s his missing half. Dex is the most sane, selfless, and in control that he’s ever been. But he is haunted by a spirit that scares him deeply, and even Perry can barely calm him down.
So with a couple of llamas and a sketchy mountain man to guide them, Dex and Perry head off into the mountains on a search for Sasquatch with some gear and guns. What they find along the way is terrifying, but they are brought closer together and a lot of their issues are brought to light and dealt with as they fight for their lives.
Bottom Line: I give this one a five out of five. Into the Hollow is fast paced, thrilling, creepy, and horrific as the layers of Dex and Perry’s relationship are peeled back one by one until the raw emotional base is uncovered. Dex and Perry have switched rolls of power in this book, and it’s refreshing to see how they each react to being on the other side. I can’t wait for book seven, Come Alive, which is written entirely from Dex’s point of view.

As usual, the horror stuff scares me a bit, but this book still sounds great! I love that it takes place in the PNW (at least partially) too!

Like the rest of the books in this series, the horror aspects aren’t too bad. This one is more a thriller of Dex and Perry running for their lives in the wilderness.

So I’m only just starting Sins & Needles, but this series sounds so cool! I’ll have to get the first book so I can start it when I’m caught up on the first series. Can’t wait to meet Dex and Perry! Great review, Heather 🙂
