Once upon a time, there were three hungry Dinosaurs: Papa Dinosaur, Mama Dinosaur . . . and a Dinosaur who happened to be visiting from Norway.

One day–for no particular reason–they decided to tidy up their house, make the beds, and prepare pudding of varying temperatures. And then–for no particular reason–they decided to go…someplace else. They were definitely NOT setting a trap for some succulent, unsupervised little girl.

Definitely not!

This new take on a fairy-tale classic is so funny and so original–it could only come from the brilliant mind of Mo Willems.

Oh, Mo Willems….How can I even begin to thank you for your sarcastic, wry, amazing children’s books?

I’m sure it won’t surprise any of you that I’m as avid a reader to my little ones as I am to myself, so needless to say, I’ve read A LOT of picture books.  A LOT.  And as is often the case with children, when they adore something you need to embrace the fact that you’re going to be rereading that book a million times.  Not hyperbole here, folks.  So it is with great pleasure, and no small amount of relief, when my kids pull out a book I know we’re both going to enjoy.  Such is the case with any book by Mr. Willems!

If you’re at all familiar with his Pigeon series, you’ll know that his silly, wry style is a pleasure for kids and adults alike.  And his retelling of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Dinosaurs is no different.  Familiar enough to have the little ones giggling over the changes and tongue-in-cheek enough to make the process all the more enjoyable for adults, this great story is one everyone in your house will enjoy reading over…and over….and over!

Now go and get lost….in a book!

Lover of words and authors; absolute fan girl of books! Give me a good story, with characters I can love (and hate) and I’ll follow you anywhere. Sing me a song of worlds I can dream of, and I’ll listen forever.
