Losing It by Cora Carmack  on goodreads:

Virginity.
Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible—a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half a brain would ever believe
And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theater professor.
She’d left him naked in her bed about eight hours earlier. . . .

The Runaway New York Times and USA Today Bestseller!

“Losing It” definitely belongs to the New Adult Author phenomena. Right after self-publishing, Losing It got picked up by Harper Collins imprint William Morrow Paperbacks and sealed a 3 books  deal. Of course, I need to read this book! And, I must say it definitely stood out among the New Adult books.

LosingIt

College and still a Virgin

Bliss never really got a chance to lose her virginity, so here she is in College while all her friends talk about sex, yet she is still a virgin. When her best friend decides it’s time to change this, Bliss meets the super sexy Garrick with the hott british accent. Even though they seem to connect instantly, Bliss just can’t do it and runs away from his bed. Next day, she meets him… as her new professor! Ugh!

Quirky, Funny and Sexy

The first thing that came to my mind while reading it, was that it was super funny with all those horrible and embarrassing situations, bliss finds herself in. Plus, Bliss voice also is quirky and witty. She takes her situations with a lot of self irony and with tons of fun.

On the other side, the story is sexy and utterly romantic! Garrick will easily steal your heart ladies! He loves literature,  drives a motorcycle and has a hot british accent! Bliss and Garricks love story is absolutely cute, sweet, romantic and hot!! Add in the quirky tone and we have a wonderful story to get lost in!

Losing It stands out!

Truly, Losing it stands out among the New Adult books as it is not filled with too much angst and broken people in need to be healed. It has the cuteness of Young Adult books but also the sexiness and maturity of New Adult. Bliss is at College trying to find her place in the world and not only college but also Garrick are helping her to find exactly this. Bliss is growing a lot in this story.

Bewitched Rating

Bottom Line

Losing It by Cora Carmack has the cuteness of Young Adult books and the sexiness and level of maturity of New Adult books. Losing It was funny, quirky and sexy and had everything a good story need, a strong female lead and a sexy hot hero! It’s perfect for everyone who loves a lighter romantic tale of two lovers without the tears coming with too much angst. Anyone who loved to explore the New Adult “genre” but isn’t into too much angst should pick up Losing It!

New Adult contemporary hilarious

  2. Kristin

I’ve known about this one for a while but I couldn’t get past the cover, which, sorry, looks like a soft-core porn movie or something.

Your review’s definitely made me take a second look at it and I think I’ll be picking it up. Angsty is good but sometimes you just need a break from all of that and this sounds perfect. Thanks for the great review!

LOOOL yes I do not like the cover myself!!! I didn’t like the first version because I didn’t like the boy, nor did I like the one right now..

BUT, the story itself is cute and great:))

Yeah, he looks like a seventeen-year-old from Staten Island (nice chain), not some hot British professor.

  3. This cover…just doesn’t do it for me. What’s with the torso hovering above the girl’s face?

Good to hear that the insides read much better than the outside. I’m quite pleased to hear there isn’t as much angst as in a lot of the NAs coming out the gate these days. I need as much light and humor as I can get!

Quite frankly, the cover is boring and even ugly… The boy is not hot and the whole cover looks.. boring!

And I was surprised about the lighter and funnier tone in this book. And nope, not much angst at all 🙂

  4. YAY!!! So glad you loved this one Danny! I’ve been seeing mixed reviews and I was kinda nervous to pick it up, but now that I know you enjoyed it I feel much better. I have no doubt I’ll be madly in love with Garrick by the end of it. I’m really excited that there’s not an abundance of angst in this one, and that neither character is broken. You know I’m a huge fan of the damaged ones, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little break from them:)

  7. I thought this was a fun read! I liked that it didn’t follow the same angst-ridden formula as so many New Adult books. I interviewed the author and she is super nice. Also, her publication story is so cool – it all took off so quickly for her. I love reading about these self-publishing success stories. 🙂

  9. Yay I love when New Adult books don’t feel the need to include horrible past life experiences and just feel like a good YA book with the maturity level of New Adult. This sounds right up my alley.

Thanks for the awesome review, glad you liked it 🙂

  10. I loved this one a ton too! I especially am obsessed with Garrick too he is so dreamy especially the way he’s described! ;P Also, who doesn’t love hilarious stories? That excuse Bliss made up to get out of sex that first time with Garrick was so hilarious I think I literally laughed out loud 🙂

I’m so glad you liked this one, Danny! Great review!

  11. I have to admit that the cover of this one is a total turn off for me. That guy looks like he is about a 12 and not a sexy, motorcycle driving British professor. You mentioned it being picked up by Harper, I hope they do a major overhaul on the cover because it sounds really good! I like that Bliss finds herself in plenty of embarrassing situations!
