A few months ago Danny discovered the New Adult genre.  You may recall how excited she was.  Or rather still is even.  🙂
We were talking one day about all the great NA books she was enjoying and I mentioned I would like to try one. Â A few minutes later a gift showed up on my Kindle…Easy by Tammara Webber. Â Now the cover is pretty and the blurb looked interesting but I had no idea how much I would enjoy this book!
It starts off so fierce and I was dragged into this story, drawn to Jacqueline and Lucas and the chemistry that flowed between them.  It was so true to my memories of collage life, the dramas that consume, the challenges that need to be faced and the dangers that are very real and present.  But it was the characters, so realistic and wonderfully portrayed that made this story shine.  I loved them all, not just Jacqueline and Lucas but Erin and Chaz and the rest.  I adored the friendship that Jacqueline and Erin share, and it reminded me of my “east coast girls” that I went to school with, the way they were there for each other no matter what.
And fear not, NA does not equal Erotica (or sorry, if that’s what you were hoping for). Â There was romance and sex but not more than one finds in any story with romance. Â Well, maybe just a little more details…but really, just right!
So, I send a thank you out to my dear Danny who got me started and I look forward to adding the NA genre to my reading list!

Welcome to the new addiction. I am loving this genre, and while it does have a certain hotness to it..it is no way erotica..lol. I picked this up last week and cannot wait to read it! So glad you stepped up to the challenge Pushy!

So much drama in college. Almost more than high school, though on a different level. Easy’s an amazing book — I certainly wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did.
I do hate that so many (authors, readers, etc.) are equating new adult with erotica. It’s NOT the same thing. There are just more adult situations, maybe more sex but that’s still not the primary drive behind the book.

This is one of the earlier New Adult books I read. I really enjoyed it. I’m a fan of young adult, I’ve always loved YA… but NA is more grown up and sometimes more exciting. So, I waffle between.

My friends and I are now addicted to NA. It’s too bad that it’s been mislabeled as erotica. There are strict guidelines as to what makes a book erotica, and it has nothing to do with the graphic sex. While some NA books do have graphic sex scenes, most don’t. They are just a little steamier than YA. But the truth is I didn’t have sex when I was a teen. I was in college my first time. I didn’t party and drink when I was a teen. I saved it for college. Maybe that’s why I can relate to NA more than I can YA, and I LOVE YA.
