Rockoholic
Rockoholic by CJ Skuse on goodreads:
She’s got it bad, and he ain’t good — he’s in her garage?
“I’m your biggest fan, I’ll follow you until you love me…”
Gonna have to face it: Jody’s addicted to Jackson Gatlin, frontman of The Regulators, and after her best bud Mac scores tickets, she’s front and center at his sold-out concert. But when she gets mashed in the moshpit and bodysurfs backstage, she’s got more than a mild concussion to deal with. By the next morning, the strung-out rock star is coming down in her garage. Jody — oops — kind of kidnapped him. By accident. With a Curly Wurly candy bar. And now he doesn’t want to leave.
It’s a rock-star abduction worthy of an MTV reality series…but who got punk’d?
Seriously, l love books that deal with rockstars and fans and falling in love. I don’t know why, maybe because its like every girls dream at least once in her life. Rockaholic sounds exactly like such a fun and romantic read and with this cute cover I was all in…
Not What I expected….
Sadly, I have to admit upfront that I was greatly disappointed. Apart for the fact that the characters felt often flat to me, I couldn’t connect to them. Also, to be brutally honest, the whole storyline as silly and ridiculous. I was hoping for a romantic tale ,but it ended up being truly unbelievable and didn’t reach my heart.
The Sad Life of a Rockstar
If you look deeper in the book and the story you discover that a lot of topics have been addressed, like Drug abuse, Alcohol abuse but also homosexuality all together packed into this rather silly story. The idea was nice, however it just didn’t dig deep enough for me to care more about the problems our characters had to face. Each of the characters are struggling with their own set of problems and they just try to manage their own lives. Some better… some worse….
Mac – BFF extraordinary
The highlight of the whole story was Mac who was Jody’s best friend and supported her whatever stupid thing she was up to next. Even though he didn’t like seeing her so obsessed h was always there for her, trying to fix the messes she got herself into. He was definitely cute and a wonderfully genuine character. I also found him the most believable character in the whole book. He was the voice of reason when Jody truly didn’t care about the consequences she got herself into.
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Roackaholic unfortunately couldn’t win me over, with a silly plot and characters i mostly couldn’t connect to. The only highlight was XX which saved the book a little for me.

Aww bummer! 🙁 Sorry this one didn’t do it for you. I saw it on NetGalley and considered requesting it like 5 times but never did. It sounds like I made the right decision!

Awww, that’s too bad that you were disappointed. I haven’t read Rockaholic, but I know someone else that was also disappointed in this book.
I’m not one to gravitate towards books with rockstars or music lovers, but this one was on my radar. I think I will bump it way down my list – or maybe off my list.
Thanks for the review.
