All Our Pretty Songs by Sarah McCarry
Expected publication: July 30th 2013 by St. Martin’s Griffin
goodreads| amazon | BookDepository
There is no official synopsis around yet, but what I found sounds amazing!!!:
Sarah McCarry’s All Our Pretty Songs is a fiercely radiant debut. McCarry captures the transcendent rage at the heart of punk rock in this smart, intoxicating, mythic tale… Her inspired prose and richly drawn characters make this novel sing. A must read for young women everywhere.” — Cara Hoffman, author of So Much Pretty
“Sarah McCarry’s brilliant lightning strike of a novel reignites the myth of Orpheus in a blaze of rock and roll, obsessive love, and the kind of all-consuming friendship one only experiences when young. A stunning debut that fans of Neil Gaiman and Francesca Lia Block will devour.” — Elizabeth Hand, award-winning author of Radiant Days and Available Dark
A brilliant dose of the creepy and sublime. The language will pull you in… with its beauty and pain… word by word, note by note.” —Neesha Meminger, author of Into The Wise Dark; Shine, Coconut Moon; and Jazz In Love
“A gorgeously-written… adaptation of the Orpheus myth. I loved every minute I spent in McCarry’s hypnotic and beautifully-drawn world.” —Madeline Miller, Orange Prize-winning author of The Song of Achilles
“[All Our Pretty Songs] is a heartbreaker of a debut novel, a punk rock remix of the myth of Orpheus that is as much about best friends as it is about first love. Buy it, love it, pass it along.” —Alexander Chee, author of Edinburgh
And from Publishers Marketplace
From Publisher’s Marketplace: Sarah McCarry’s METAMORPHOSES Trilogy, loose retellings of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, with the first book All Our Pretty Songs; in the wild, thriving music scene of 1990s Seattle, a tough, punk-rock heroine follows her best friend and her lover into the underworld and finds more than she bargained for, pitched as Francesca Lia Block by way of Angela Carter, to Sara Goodman at St. Martin’s, for publication in Spring 2013, by Michele Rubin at Writers House
Ok seriously! doesn’t this sound super amazing??? “punk-rock” heroine? Greek retelling?
I cannot wait for this book!!!
Much Love,

I don’t think I need a full synopsis to make me add this to my TBR. Punk Rock + Ovid retelling has me pretty freaking sold.

I don’t even need a synopsis with this one Danny, look at that cover! GORGEOUS. It’s kind of fun to read what’s said about it without having an official blurb – it’s like getting little teasers and we just have to sit back and wonder what the story will actually be about:) LOVE IT!
