Darynda Jones is the author of the incredible Adult Paranormal series “Charley Davidson”, which is so full of awesome and fun! Now, she recently also published her first Young Adult series: “Darklight” with the first book “Death and The Girl Next Door” which I loved to pieces!

Hi guys, thank you both so much for taking your time to stop by the Bewitched Bookworms. I … uhm,… hope you both can get along for a few minutes… alright? No beating each other, k?Â
*grumbling sounds*
Maybe, you Cameron sit over there and Jared you can sit beside me? *blushes furiously* Â
 Jared: *flashes a charming grin* You got it.
I feel like there are truly some bad vibrations here in this room. Do you care to elaborate why you seem to …uhm… not like each other so much?Â
Jared: Well it all—
Cameron: I can tell you exactly why—
Jared: —started the day Cameron—
Cameron: —I wouldn’t spit on him—
Jared—was born.
Cameron: —if he were on fire.
Oh! Not both at the same time!! Guys! Maybe you start Jared?Â
Jared: I don’t have a problem with Cameron, but I do have a problem with his perception of me and what I do. He thinks I’m a murderer. He doesn’t see life the way I do. Death is part of the cycle, not an end to it.
Cameron: *snorts*
Jared: He’ll learn that someday.
Cameron: Not by your hands, reaper.
Cameron, thanks for being so patient! (don’t give me that look!!!) Would you like to share now why you hate Jared so much?Â
Cameron: Because he’s a thief. He’s a liar. All he knows how to do is cheat and steal. Like now. He steals people’s lives, takes everything they have, and then tries to convince us it’s not the end. That it’s part of a cycle. That’s BS.
Jared: *Leans closer to Cameron* I could prove it to you. Right here. Right now. You won’t feel a thing. You’ll be gone before you can blink.
Cameron: *Closes the distance* Try it.
Ahem. Let’s move on, shall we? Jared what went through your head when you saw Lorelei for the first time?Â
Jared: You probably don’t want to know that.
Cameron: Sure we do, reaper.
Jared: I’m not a reaper.
Cameron: I mean how old are you anyway? And Lorelei is what? Sixteen? Classy.
Jared: Her soul is old. Beautiful. It’s like the smoldering embers of a fire that flare to life when you least expect them to. Its flames roll softly over her skin, bathing her in a soft, glowing light. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Cameron: And that’s not disturbing at all.
So guys, there is something…. otherworldly about you, would you give us maybe a little hind about what you are?
Cameron: Well, he’s the grim reaper.
Jared: I’m not the grim reaper.
Cameron: And I’m a freak.
Jared: Agreed.
Cameron: Better than being a thief and a liar.
Jared: *rolls eyes* So, yeah, my job title is technically the Angel of Death. And Cameron is a nephilim. He’s part angel and part human, which makes him less than nothing in my book, but he was created to protect Lorelei, and for that I’m grateful.
Cameron: At least I have someone I can play touch football with now without worrying about crushing his vertebrae every time I tackle him.
Jared: I like touch football, though it’s much more violent than I would’ve suspected considering the name.
Cameron: *chuckles*

Jared: *Shrugs*
 Cameron: No.
Jared: Not really.

Kissing – Butterflies – Romance and Mysteries… Before we move to the kissing part, it would be important to point out that the feared love triangle actually did not happen! For once I am grateful not having to choose between tortured & sexy and sexy & mysterious.
Then, we must take a minute to appreciate the kissing scenes. Holy Awesome!! Those kisses were so hot and sexy, I was actually reading them twice – I couldn’t get enough! Imagine scenes where you sigh along with the characters, and scenes that manage to plaster a happy smile on your face! Every girl should be kissed like this…

YA books are something we can relate to. Although they have romance, I sometimes find there focus equally on character development, action, and overall plot. I love them!

AHHHH! Such a fun interview Danny, Cameron, and Jared! Even with all the obvious hostility 😉 I so loved this book and getting to know both boys, I can’t wait to see what unfolds in book 2!
As far as loving YA books goes – I just love how much tension there is, and how much room for growth. YA characters are usually just starting to really come into their personalities and are learning the first lessons about how wonderful and sometimes brutal life can be, and there’s something fascinating about watching how each character deals with their trials:)

It’s impossible to do anything but love Darynda! Her books are fantastic (though Reyes would definitely defeat both these boys in battle of any sort)!
I’m really not a big YA reader, mostly because the last several YA books that I was recommended followed a heavy religious bent, and that’s just not my thing. Plus, in those cases the character development was terrible.

Love Darynda Jones and I can’t wait to start this series. I love YA books now. They are a lot cooler than they were when I was actually a YA lol. I am glad that I started reading this genre again. All we had when I was young were those stupid “Sweet Valley High” books. Its no wonder I went straight from picture books to reading “Clan of the Cave Bear” Thanks for the interview with Jared and Cameron. I love getting to know more about these characters.

I love that YA books can be simple or deep and I can choose what I want to read. I love the angst, the first love, the sarcasm and wit that comes with being a teenager. The fun that is there, the freedoms. I just like YA books!

I was never a fan of YA – some seem to be “younger” than what I would like, but I’m starting to read more. I like the idea of puppy love 🙂 before it manifest into something more serious

I love YA books because they goes into a whole new world. All ages could read them especially parents who wonder what their children are reading these days. It goes into paranormal, fae world, urban fantasy and even steampunk. YA is so diversed that there are something for everyone.

I love YA books because it brings me back to my “YA” age, even though I’m not of that age anymore. I love the newness and hope and excitement of that age, self-discovery and first love and empowerment. So much fun.

I love Darynda! I just bought the first two books in Charley Davidson series and Darynda was at a book signing near my sister so I sent her money to get me Death and The Girl Next Door & get it signed for me.

I love Darydna’s books. She gets keeps me absolutely engaged in her story that I don’t want to put the book down till I’m done. I am so happy she is doing a YA series as well, and it has such a great premise.

I love YA because it doesn’t seem super innocent like some kids books are, but don’t have the heavy conflicts and responsibilities adults have, which makes it so much more relatable for me!

I love them because you get to re-live high school all over and in so many different ways and/or parallel worlds, including paranormal, dystopian, fantasy, etc. etc.

What an hilarious interview! I loved it! If they are like that throughout the book, I know I’m gonna love this book!
But what do I like about YA? I can relate myself to the characters. Okay, there are no dragons, werewolves and such in my world. But the feelings and events are what I experienced too when I was that age ( the NORMAL ones, I’m not talking saving the world events). Besides, YA authors are amazing story tellers. They manage to grab my attention time and time again. Each story is different, has something that makes it stand out from the others. It never makes me feel bored reading one.
I can continue mentioning reasons why I like Young Adult. But in the end what matters to me most is that I just like it. It’s as easy as that 😉
