Love Unscripted and Tina Reber is another one of those shiny examples of self-published books that have been picked up by Atria! Now, this is not necessary New Adult, and rather Adult but still, the story intrigued me so I picked it up!
The Love Story so many dream about.
Who has never dreamed about that this one gorgeous actor would fall insanely in love with you and swept you of your feet only to ride into the sunset with you. Yeah, be honest everyone has! And this is the story! While, this also isn’t a new concept the characters sure as hell are! Ryan – 26 gorgoues actor who is making millions is subject of admiration for millions of women. He falls for down to earth, Taryn who runs a pub in a small town! Who wouldn’t want to dream about this concept?
Taryn … strong independent and scared…
Taryn was awesome! She was so down to earth, a business woman running a successful pub in a small town. I loved her independence; it was one of her strongest features! Also, she was careful not to fall for Ryan since she was sure that this never would work out. She tried to be smart, until love took her over! Even more, she was the perfect fit for someone like Ryan, she doesn’t care about his money and his fame and only wanted to love this man and protect him!
Ryan – *insert dreamy sigh*
Ryan was perfect! He was sexy, strong, determined but in his heart, just down to earth like Taryn. He loves his family and he cares deeply for his friends. He hates being chased by his fans and wants nothing more than a little normalcy, which is why Taryn was the perfect match for a boy like him! He loves acting ,but he doesn’t necessarily love what comes which such a fame… He tried very hard to get everything together, fame, acting and Taryn…
600 pages full of love… and little drama
My main complain is that the story dragged out too long! I loved the story, do not get me wrong here. But we spend so much time with Taryn and Ryan getting together, and then them being happily together that I missed some high points. The story just rippled along without much happening. I need drama and heartbreak. I wish for more tension earlier in the book! Let them work it out. But the big drama cam towards the end, a little late for my taste. Also, there was a lot of “telling” I found rather uncececary , little details like “blablah” he complimented me. I’m sure the reader can figure this out himself and doesn’t need to be told or explained. There was a lot of explaining of situations that didn’t need to be explained.
Hottness Factor
I realized when reviewing New Adult titles, I should add a few words about the level of hottness and steaminess. In YA novel, we all know what to expect (and what not..) in adult novels we absolutely know about the possibility of explicit sex scenes. In New Adult, we can have both, so I should add a few words about it in my reviews.
Love Unscripted comes with some explicit sexual content, but nor in an overbearing way, totally romance kind of way.
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
I loved this romantic tale of this gorgous actor and a stong indepanded woman! Their love was strong sweet and passionate. Despite my complain about the lengthts, I am looking forward reading more about Ryan and Tayrin!

Awesome review, Danny! I really enjoyed this book too! It was definitely insanely long, but one problem I had with it was the choppiness towards the end and the ending itself. I felt like around the 3/4 mark there were suddenly A LOT of unnecessary scenes and not very good transitioning from one scene to another. And the end seemed a little overly crazy to me.
But it was a good read! I haven’t read the second one yet but I’m considering it. 🙂

Definitely not a new concept–maybe the reason it wasn’t traditionally pubbed in the first place? And, while I do enjoy romance, I much prefer conflict and action, rather than just a gliding-along love story. Where’s the passion, man?

I’ve been wondering about this one since I saw it on Netgalley and it sounds really good! I love how you describe Taryn as independent and smart which is refreshing if you ask me. I think I would feel the same about the pace though I love dramatics and heartbreak in stories like this but it sounds like it’s worth the read regardless.

I’ve never heard of LOVE UNSCRIPTED before (at least, I don’t think I have. There are so many NA books popping up lately that it’s hard to keep track of them all!), but after your review, my inner hopeless romantic is intrigued! 😛 Ryan sounds extremely cute, though too bad that the story dragged on for too long. 600 pages does sound like a very long love story indeed. O_O

I have a hard time relating to movie star/rock star stories without them getting silly so I may pass this one…. But I really love the New Adult Mondays! I’m really getting into the New Adult genre. Always looking for more!

Isn’t that exactly how Matt Damon met his wife? I’m pretty sure she was a bartender or something similar. Lucky girl! I know I’ve dreamed of that situation on more than one occasion, but seeing as it’s not going to happen, I’ll just live vicariously through Taryn:)

This sounds exactly like my kind of guilty pleasure read. I love the idea of randomly meeting a movie star. Kind of like Notting Hill, one of my favorite movies. It’s a silly concept, but one that sucks me in every time.

I haven’t had a lot of patience with books lately, if they aren’t pretty much amazing straight away I just give up. So I’m not sure this is a book I would pick up. But I’m glad that you still managed to like it quite a lot!

I’ve been wondering about this one! I thought it sounded great but 600 pages?! That seems a bit much for a book like this. I’m curious so I’ll have to read it, but I will probably wait until I have some downtime! Thanks for the review. 🙂

Have you heard of Princess Mary of Denmark (this is a true story btw :). She was originally an “ordinary girl” from Tasmania (very southern Australia). One night, 12 years ago, she met a guy in a pub in Sydney. They fell in love. He is the Prince (future King) of Denmark. They are now married with 4 children. Someone needs to write that story! 😉

Never heard of this one before but it sounds interesting! BUT MAN is it a chunker!! Thanks for putting it on my radar. Taking a look at some of your other New Adult recs. Hate the label of New Adult but have said FOR YEARS that we needed more lit for the early to mid twenty somethings that feels more relatable. Like wouldn’t you think that there would be more college aged characters because OMG what a fun setting — being at college and away from your parents for the first time. I had some crazy fun times!
