Weekly meme from The Story Siren. The idea is to post the books you got this week, whether you bought them, got them as a gift, from the library, or received them to review.

Hi, everyone! While I’m off celebrating my birthday today, let me gather up the books I’ve received in the last three weeks. (All links for books and authors are to Goodreads, descriptions are from Amazon, click the book covers to go to the Amazon.com page for the book)

First up, I preordered Jeaniene Frost’s first book in the Night Prince series featuring my favorite fire wielding vampire Vlad titled Once Burned.

She’s a mortal with dark powers…

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person’s darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude…until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world’s most infamous vampire…

He’s the Prince of Night…

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don’t call him Dracula. Vlad’s ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

I’ve been waiting for this book since it was announced. I can’t wait to dig into Vlad’s story because he’s been my favorite secondary character from the Night Huntress Series.

I also preordered the final installment of the Fallen series, Rapture by Lauren Kate.

The sky is dark with wings . . . .

Like sand in an hourglass, time is running out for Luce and Daniel. To stop Lucifer from erasing the past they must find the place where the angels fell to earth. Dark forces are after them, and Daniel doesn’t know if he can do this—live only to lose Luce again and again.

Yet together they will face an epic battle that will end with lifeless bodies . . . and angel dust. Great sacrifices are made. Hearts are destroyed. And suddenly Luce knows what must happen.

For she was meant to be with someone other than Daniel. The curse they’ve borne has always and only been about her—and the love she cast aside. The choice she makes now will be the only one that truly matters.

In the fight for Luce, who will win?

The astonishing conclusion to the FALLEN series. Heaven can’t wait any longer.

Now that this series is finally over, I can start reading them. I’ve been buying these as they come out so I have them all waiting and ready to go.

J.L. Bryan sent me Fairyland, the fourth book in the Songs of Magic series to review.

Jason and Erin’s urgent mission takes them deep into the colorful and deadly wilds of Faerie, full of bizarre and rude creatures, and past the glittering volcanic islands of the Southward Sea.

In man-world, Mitch and Dred try to prepare for a live concert in front of millions of viewers while half their band is missing.  The record company is furious with them, and so are a certain violet-haired fairy and her banshee wolf friend, who finally catch up with them in Los Angeles.

In Faerie, Queen Mab and the leprechaun Aonghus Mac Lobhar enter into a secret agreement over a new kind of magic that will change fairyland forever…

I’ve really loved this middle grade series so far. It has every thing–humor, adventure, great music, lots of fun, snark–all of the things I love best. I have to catch up with book three before I can get to this one, but it’s next on my list to read. I can’t wait to catch back up with Jason and the gang!

Those are the books I’ve collected over the last few weeks. Any thoughts on the Fallen series? I will be doing a “Heather Finally Reads…” segment on each one in the future since I’ve held off on reading them until the series was complete. What about the new Jeaniene Frost series? Is anyone a die-hard Vlad fan like I am? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Summer! I’m off to figure out what books I’m going to buy with my Barnes and Noble birthday gift card…

Have you read the rest of the Fallen series, Fara? Are they good, because Danny here absolutely loves them so I’ve been buying them but saving them up until the series was completed.

Jeaniene Frost’s books are excellent. Even the less than stellar ones are very entertaining! Vlad is the main character of this new series, and he is my absolute favorite vamp. Definitely pick this one up! I can’t wait to read it.

  4. Happy birthday, I hope it’s a good one! And Rapture was so good, I can’t wait for you to read the Fallen series so I can see what you think. I’m like you because I waited until I knew the last book was going to be released to start reading the books.

Hope you enjoy all your books this week!

I’m glad that I’m not the only one who’s been waiting for this series to end before I started. I’m doing the same thing with the Mortal Instrument Series and the Hush Hush series too. I have patience, LOL!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Tabitha. I hope these books are good and you enjoy them too!

  6. Happy Birthday Heather!!! Hope you are at a pool or somewhere cool, the movies maybe, enjoying your birthday!!

Lord have Mercy, every time I see that eye candy on the cover of Once Burned I want to run to the book store and GET THAT BOOK! But I was told that I should read all the Night Huntress books first. Hmmph! Maybe I’ll just get it to look at the cover!

I have Rapture and Fairyland and can’t wait to read both! I know Fairyland is going to be awesome but I’m putting it off a bit because I know it’s the next to last book! 🙁 Love that series-Songs of Magic

Happy, Happy Birthday!!! Just imagine me singing to you. It’s better in your mind than in real life, believe me!

Oh, Heather, I’m imagining Happy Birthday being sung in a very lovely voice because I just can’t listen to anything else without cringing. I saw Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter today, and it was so unintentionally hilarious it was awesome! I haven’t laughed so hard at a movie in a while, and we watch a lot if comedies!

And the 8 pack on that cover model? OMG! Dead! You have to read it just for that.

  7. Happy birthday Heather! I personally loved the Fallen series. I think if you end up starting them not liking them very much you should still keep going because it gets so much better, specifically in Rapture. Great haul!
