Infinity – Book I

At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends. . .until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.

Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead.

But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh eating zombies. And he’s next on the menu.

As if starting high school isn’t hard enough. . .now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?

Excerpt from my Review:

This is one of those stories that move forward merciless and are thick with new developments fast. I love such rich stories, they keep you on edge all the time. Also, she created a world full of Demons, Shifters, Vampires and ancient gods. I love when an author is able to create a world that big.

But what I loved most is Nick! I loved his sense of humor, his braveness and his sarcasm! Now, excuse me, I go and read the next one!

And now onto the second book:

Invincible – Book II

Nick Gautier’s day just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake up and find himself enslaved to a world of shapeshifters and demons out to claim his soul.

His new principal thinks he’s even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can’t even mention and the girl he’s not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.

But more than that, he’s being groomed by the darkest of powers and if he doesn’t learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them..

Nick is one awesome character, his strength and braveness and loyalty to his friends. I espeically love his humor and sarcasm although I could imagine if I’d met him for real I would be annoyed at some point *snickers*

Well, anyway Invincible takes place just the next day after the end of Infinity. But Nick won’t have time to breath – a new coach is in town and there is something about him that doesn’t sound right.

In the meantime, Nick has to learn his powers but at the sometime he can’t forget his humanity, also he finally learns that if he would turn evil he would doom the whole world and even worth all the ones he loves will be killed. I admire Nick who is only 14 but has so much to deal with while he would only wish to go home and be a normal Teenager. But not Nick.

He has some Demon friends that protect him and now I have to mention the secondary characters. They are awesome!! Absolutely perfect developed for secondary characters that I would even pick up a book that is only about them. I’m talking about Caleb who is a Demon and Nicks protector. He’s hot but he’s also so mysterious that I’M dying to know which role he’ll play..

Simi: she is the most awesome creature I’ve ever read. She too is a demon but they way she speaks and behaves makes me laugh so loud, it’s awesome!!

Bottom Line

Well yes this series grows! But it also leave me now hanging in the air waiting for me. But now I’m seriously hooked!!! Love this series!

Last but not least I give you now a Sneak Peak into the third book:

Infamous Book III

The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters. Now Nick’s saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume…

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive such a difficulty? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself

Here is an awesome Trailer that definitely makes the wish for more:

  1. Okay, here’s where I get confused with this series. Nick, when he helps the Dark Hunters is definitely not in High School. And when he learns about possible destroying the world, he is much older. I don’t see how the timelines are gelling with the Dark Hunters series. All the bad stuff happened in Acheron and if you like Simi, just read Acheron, after you read all the Dark Hunter books leading up to Acheron. You’ll love to know who she really is. I already have Infinity.

@hrose2931 The reason the timeline is all crazy in Nick’s YA series is because Nick’s backstory in the Dark Hunter series is one reality and in the YA series future Nick goes back in time to try to change his present…thereby changing his past. So because way-in-the-future-dark-hunter-series-Nick goes back to his own past he changes it and YA-series-Nick is an alternate reality to the Dark Hunter series.
I hope that explains it and doesn’t make you more confused.

Thank you so much Jessica for clarifying this! I had no idea about this, since I haven’t read the Dark Hunter series.

Heather: I really have to start reading this series. I mean I am so in love with Nick, he’s incredible and I want to meet him as an adult!

This sounds like an awesome series! I want to meet Nick because not only does he have to grow up fast, which means who he really is will really shine through despite mistakes or successes, but he also has to navigate a whole world of very different creatures!

I’m sure with everything he has to face, his voice and being in his head and seeing how he navigates this whole new world will be fascinating and fun!

  3. Oh, yay!! Triple the book-gushing = triple the convincing awesomeness! 😉 I keep seeing this series all around the bookstore and library, but I’ve passed it up because I’ve been burned by male POVs before and wasn’t sure if I’d like it. But I LOVE sarcastic characters, so Nick sounds like my kind of guy! And I love how the series incorporates a whole lot of supernaturals instead of just one type — that means everyone could be satisfied! 🙂

Thanks for officially putting this series on my TBR list, Danny! I can’t wait to meet Nick and all those other awesome secondary characters! 😀

  4. AWESOME!!!! Love the Dark Hunter series but I haven’t tried these books yet. Okay, why do I love Nick? Maybe because he could possibly introduce me to Acheron? Is that a valid reason? I think so:)

  5. Jessica Austen

I want to meet Nick because I love him. He a sarcastic, fun, crazy character in the Dark Hunter series. Throughout the Dark Hunter books Nick grows up and gives a captivating subplot that continues over most of the books. I love him because he is a character with a good sense of humor and he’s tough. I want Nick to meet a woman who can give him his soul back and heal his heart. But I also love that in Nick’s YA series he is trying to heal himself. I think his anger at the world and himself speaks to a lot of young men today and I hope that his growth as a character helps the readers grow too.
So basically, I want to meet him because he is the most real character I’ve read in a YA novel and I think he’s awesome.

    Thanks for your wonderful comment!!

  7. Yeah another great giveaway. Why do I want to meet Nick? I have heard some great things about this series, and I have not read a Kenyon book. This sounds like a great place to start. I like heroes who are brave, courageous and loyal and a bit funny. I will be watching for your review of book three Danny.

I also started with Mrs Kenyon by reading this YA series and I didn’t know until after I finished the first one that this series is a spin off and tells the story of the young Nick. Who is apparently a big character in her series.
(Well, that was a weird sentence lool)

I am excited to start the third book as soon as I can! :))

I’m working my way through the Dark-Hunters series and it’s still early. I want to meet Nick because I can see how he grew up and how he looks at things. Also the covers for this series are so cool.

I Love the Dark Hunter series and now Nick’s series too!! Alot of bad stuff happens to Nick as he gets older, I love how we get to go back to Nick’s beginning. I hope with the changes in the timeline that Nick will have a happier life. I don’ t want to spoil it for everyone that hasn’t read the Dark Hunter series so I will stop here. I guarantee that you will fall in love with all of Sherilyn’s Dark Hunters!!!

  10. Okay I just want to comment. I have Infinity already. The ONLY one I’m missing is Invincible so that’s fine.

I would like to meet Nick because I want to know how a sarcastic, snotty, son of his mamma boy like him can turn in to this larger than life, end of the world, doom’s day man that has no feelings whatsoever.

I started reading Nick in CON and now is that I’m knowing him as a man in DH. I didn’t even know that he was part of DH ’till my BF told me. Guess it was ’cause I was looking more in the YA section. But I love that he is funny and had the guts to mock himself and laugh. No many people can do that considering his situation in life.

I’ve seen these around but for some reason (maybe I read that he’s only 14?) I never picked the first book up.

However, sarcasm and zombies (hiding his chainsaw from the principal, HA!!) ) sound pretty good to me. I didn’t even read the review for the second book because I may be picking this one up in the future.

One question, does this happen before the Dark Hunter series? So we already know how Nick turns out? Or if he dies or whatever? So this series is basically backstory? Huh, interesting. I’ve never read Kenyon’s adult series ’cause I’ve always gotten the impression they veer into bodice ripper territory.

    Hi Kristin:

To answer your question it would be awesome if you could read the DH books. It will make you understand so much. The Nick of CON is another…shall we say version?…of the DH Nick.

If you read the books it will make you understand so much more. Believe me…I started with CON and kind of understand it…but it wasn’t ’till I started DH that I really got what was going on. I guarantee you it is worth it!!

Thanks for the recommendation, Minnie. I would’ve started with the YA books but maybe I’ll check out the other ones first and see if they’d be to my liking!

  12. I would love to meet Nick because he is funny and loyal! He seems like a great guy (at least he is at the young age of 14) and would be a good one to have on your side. I have read the first two of this YA series, but never have read the Dark Hunter books. So far I am really enjoying them and can’t wait to read Infamous! Thanks for the reviews!
