synopsis from goodreads

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect

I saw this book floating around in the bloggysphere and many of the blogs I ususally visit featured this series. For some reason I never picked it up but when a lovely lady from Entangled offered a copy I jumped right in.

Oh and! How surprised I was that I loved it soo much, like really much!

YA paranormal with quirky, intriguing and unique characters

I fell in love with Deznee our protagonist and from which’s POV the story is told instantly! We meet her when she’s doing a stunt on her skateboard. She’s reckless and outspoken, I loved her instantly! Later when we get to know her better, we learn that she had a hard day dealing with a father that fails to show any affection and an absent mother. Also, she’s always trying hard to get any emotion from her father even getting him angry. Which is why she choose to take Kale the mysterious and weird boy at home with her. Kale is cute and he’s somehow ..off?! We are wondering together with Deznee what his story is. But at the same time it’s easy to be intrigued by this boy and later on it was as easy for me to fall in love with him too!

Kale – strong ,bad-ass but beautifully vulnerable at the same time

Seriously , being able to create a character that is has so different features seems hard, maybe even unbelievable yet Jus Accardo managed just this! Kale is a bad ass assassin that at the same time has no idea about personal relationships, emotion and even living in the normal world. I barely meet a more contradicting character before. When he learns how to live outside from what he’s ever know and was raised to believe and he begins to realize the beauty of human relation, emotion and even romance its sweetness to the point of lovely! But we never forget that Kale’s touch means death – which makes his mind and ability so contradicting and intriguing.

Mystery and Suspense that keeps you on edge!

Kale and Deznee have to figure out what is going on with organisation that deals with special kids like Kale. Of course, they are also not happy that Kale managed to flee! Deznee intuitional trusts Kale and tries to help him figure things out and run and hide from the “real bad” guys. While they are hiding, we are constantly on edge and trying to figure out more along with those 2 fugitives. There are some twists and turns that add to the suspense and that will also water your yes. If you are like me and easily start crying.

Bottom Line

This was a phenomenal read! Both intense, full of mystery and suspense but also full of a beautiful and wonderful unfolding romance. I loved the growing relation and deep emotions between Deznee and Kale. The cast of characters was fantastic and I love both Deznee and Kale instantly! Any fans of the paranormal with a wonderful romance will love this book! I, can’t wait for more!

Oh I haven't read a bad review yet, but truth to told I didn't read as many reviews before picking it up. But I really loved it maybe also because I got into the story without having read a review. But, I ended up loving it with so many contradicting and awesome characters! Also, the plot is thick and fast moving! I hope you'll like it!!

Ha, I know how this is, there is a book so many people are talking about yet you never get around really reading it. But. do it!!! I loved it very much – specially the characters were awesome and I hope you'll give it a chance and move it up your TBR pile… Oh and yes there is the aspect that they are releasing it so close to each other! 6 month seems like a reasonable time frame!

    Thanks Elodie *hugs`

I remember this book waiting for me on my doorstep and immediately reading it. Touch was just simply amazing. I absolutely loved Dez and her craziness. She is just so random and daring but also has a sweet side which we get to see throughout the book. Kale was so much fun to meet. He was just so innocent in the outside world, not knowing what anything is or understanding people and what they do. Dez and Kale together are such a cute couple. They are so perfect together and I can't wait to see more of them in Toxic. That is definitely a book I am dying to read. The action in Touched was so crazy awesome and I know there will be so much more, considering how Touch ended.
