Fallen in Love

Book 3.5  in the Fallen series
Genre: YA paranormal, Angels
Published January 24th 2012 by Delacorte Press Books for Young Readers
synopsis from goodreads
What makes your heart race a little faster? Just in time for Valentine’s Day, it’s FALLEN IN LOVE, four wholly original new stories collected in a new novel set in the Middle Ages by Lauren Kate. FALLEN IN LOVE gives fans the much-talked about but never-revealed stories of FALLEN characters as they intertwine with the epic love story of Luce and Daniel. The stories include: Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles , Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland; Burning Love: The Valentine of Arriane; and Endless Love: The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda.
This is the perfect book to feature today on Valentine’s Day! Not only am I insanely in love with this series, but this book features 4 love stories in the Fallen world that happen at Valentine’s Day, at another time…
So, needless to say this is the perfect read for today!
The stories are set in between “Passion” Book 3 of the Fallen saga and I  would recommend to read it also in order, but let’s begin with :

Love Where You Least Expect It: The Valentine of Shelby and Miles

This was a very very sweet love story – but I do have to say the weakest from them. I would rather describe it as sweet and innocent. It was not the best way to get into those love stories to be honest, but let’s directly move to:

Love Lessons: The Valentine of Roland;

This one seriously broke my heart, a few times in only a few pages!! It shows Roland in such a different light and I’m now going to harass Lauren Kate to give him a spinoff. This story was as beautiful as it was sad, but not as sad as:

Love: The Valentine of Arriane

The story about Arriane was even more heartbreaking than the one with Roland and Oh my gosh  this was such a sad story that I couldn’t help it but had (again) water in my eyes… ). Those two stories are the reason why I love Lauren Kate and the Fallen series so much. She always manages to trigger such emotions in me and she’s seriously the Queen of Endless Love.

The Valentine of Daniel and Lucinda.

Of course, I love Daniel and Lucinda although here I could have lived without them. We get already 4 full books with them so I would have been happy to get another “Angel” Love story. But, what I loved is that all 4 stories are beautifully entangled in each other. Everything leads up to Daniel’s and Luce’s Valentines Day.
And apart from the love that was undeniably focus of those stories here, there is also a lot about friendship, loyalty and family (not a classic family, but family bonds that are formed over years together…). Each of our Angels just want to see Daniel and Luce happy seeing that they can’t be, at least they see that it is possible – only when those two lovers might find a way to finally be together..
And…*le sigh*

Bottom Line

Lauren Kate is a master of emotions for me – with Passion she outdid herself in my opinion and parts of what I loved I found in those short stories here. For all the fans of the Fallen series, this is a must have edition for you…  and perfect to better endure the wait for Rapture which comes out in June.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Much Love
P.S: Since today is the day of love I’d love to know your favorite Valentine’s Day story? My hubs once came 400 miles to drive to me with flowers just to be there for 2 hours before he had to drive back. This was seriously one of the sweetest things he ever did!
What about you? What is your Valentine’s Day story?

This one here is best to be read after Passion. And yes it totally helps understanding them better especially Roland and Arriane – before I liked them, now I love them :))

  5. This one sounds like the perfect Valentines Day read 🙂 !! Glad you loved it Danny … Here in France, Valentines Day doesn't seem to be as important, I'd say as in the US .. I've noticed that a lot of couples don't celebrate it .. Personnally, my boyfriend and I went to the restaurant and to see a movie but we didn't offer each other presents or flowers … Your husband seems to be a wonderful man 🙂 !!
