Synopsis from Goodreads

For the bright young things of 1929, the beautiful days seem endless, filled with romance and heartbreak, adventure and intrigue, friendship and rivalry.

After a month in New York, Cordelia Grey and Letty Larkspur are small-town girls no longer. They spend their afternoons with Astrid Donal at the Greys’ lush Long Island estate and their nights in Manhattan’s bustling metropolis. But Letty’s not content to be a mere socialite. She is ready at last to chase her Broadway dreams—no matter the cost.

Cordelia is still reeling from the death of her father at the hands of Thom Hale, the man she thought she loved. Now she is set to honor Darius Grey’s legacy . . . and take her revenge.

Promised to Cordelia’s half brother, Astrid is caught up in a world of dazzling jewels and glittering nights—and the sparkle is blinding. Charlie Grey is a gangster playing a dangerous game; and for Astrid, Cordelia, and Letty, the stakes could be deadly.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Luxe comes the second book in an epic series set in the dizzying last summer of the Jazz Age.

Review

I got the chance to review the first book in this series, Bright Young Things, earlier this year, and I absolutely adored both Anna Godbersen’s writing and her amazingly lush story. So when I got my hands on a copy of Beautiful Days, I was thrilled to be re-entering the lives of the three main characters of this series: beautiful, pampered Astrid, coolly gorgeous and determined Cordelia and lovely, sprite-like Letty.

In the first book, we’re introduced to these girls, and watch them as they learn to sink or swim in 1929’s New York City. In this installment, we see how the choices they made in that first book have flowered in their lives, for better or worse. All three girls grow in this book and I have to admit, while I enjoyed them in the first book, I really LOVED them in this book. I love how these women come into their own, plumb the depths of their hearts and find their inner strengths.

Bottom Line

I don’t want to give too much away, because I truly think this book is best enjoyed knowing just a few things about it. But I will say this: if you like historical fiction, if you like the Great Gatsby, if you like strong women who know how to face adversity and rise above it, you will adore this book!

I give it 4.5 out of 5 books

These books sound so fun. The prohibition era is so IN right now. Between PBS's documentary and Boardwalk Empire's new season, I'm about to go get myself a flapper dress. I would love to read this series, the Roaring 20's is a fun setting for so many stories.
Thanks for reviewing the Bright Young Things books.
