Synopsis from Goodreads

A journey may take hundreds of miles, or it may cover the distance between duty and desire.

Sixteen of today’s hottest writers of paranormal tales weave stories on a common theme of journeying. Authors such as Kelley Armstrong, Rachel Caine, and Melissa Marr return to the beloved worlds of their bestselling series, while others, like Claudia Gray, Kami Garcia, and Margaret Stohl, create new landscapes and characters. But whether they’re writing about vampires, faeries, angels, or other magical beings, each author explores the strength and resilience of the human heart.

Suspenseful, funny, or romantic, the stories in Enthralled will leave you moved.

Review

When I first heard about this anthology half a year ago, I already knew this would be high up on my to read list. And I was not disappointed!

This book of short stories has a little something for everyone. While there were stories by authors I absolutely adore in here (I mean, hello!?!?!? Carrie Ryan, Kami Garcia, Margie Stohl AND Melissa Marr???? *dead faint*) there are stories also by authors I’ve heard about and have wanted to read but haven’t had the chance. This is one of the things I love about anthologies…you get a little taste of the works and worlds of lots of different authors and it’s a great way to get to know them and see if their style meshes with your tastes. And while I adored the works by the aforementioned authors that make me fangirl squeal with delight just by typing their names, I equally enjoyed the stories by the other authors.

For example, there’s an amazing story, Gargouille, by Mary E. Pearson about gargoyles. But really what it’s about is love and loss and the lengths one will go to be with the one person they’re fated to be with. It’s beautiful! I want so, so much more on this topic please, Ms. Pearson. And, if I may, yes please to lots more of Etienne!

And then there’s The Third Kind by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. This is an extraordinary story about sisters and possibly the end of the world. It’s epically awesome! I mean we’ve got supernatural forces, a fun, not-so-allowed road trip, McDonalds and broken necks all in the same story. And these sisters, Jess and Kissy, they’re hysterical together. Very real, very funny, very much made me want to know more about their story.

*Pushy looks out across the interwebs to Jennifer Lynn Barnes* Allow me to take a brief moment to address Ms. Barnes personally…why oh why is this not an excerpt from a fully written series?????? How can you taunt me with a story this rich and detailed and holy chimichanga gripping and NOT have more for me to read about these characters?????? Please tell me you’re not this cruel and that you have plans for a quartet of books about Jess, Kissy and what happens next! Pretty please??????

*back to the review* And these are but two of the sixteen amazing stories in this book. I want to gush about each and every one of them, but the post would get too long and let’s face it…you don’t want to take my word for it, you need to find out for yourselves.

Bottom Line

Run like a ninja and get this book as soon as you can! You WON’T regret it!

I give it 4.5 out of 5 books

  2. I love Melissa Marr! She took old old material and put a great modern spin on it. I appreciate that her fiction tends to no have gratuitous language or violence and she is a fantastic wordsmith in her own right!

I don't know why, but I thought always thought this book was already out. No wonder I couldn't find it at the bookstore. Just read Jackson Pearce's "Sweetly" was awesome. Currently reading "The Body Finder" by Kimberly Derting.

I don't usually like anthologies but I am super excited for this one. The first story I am going to read is a toss up between Kimberly Derting and Melissa Marr. Both completely interest me.

This anthology is like a best of the best, but my favorite author has to be Carrie Ryan. Her Forest of Hands and Teeth series is hands down the best zombie books I have ever read.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  15. Rachel Caine is one of my favorite authors! I started out reading her YA series, The Morganville Vampires, and then moved on to her Weather Warden series. Both series have such amazing characters! And I don't care who you are, if you don't have a crush on both Michael and Shane, you should re-read every book in the series and rethink your guy choices!

I am also excited to read the story by Ally Condie, author of Matched, because she said it was one of her favorite things she was written. Thank you so much for a chance to win! <3 <3 <3 <3
