Pushy loves….love!

Posted 15 September, 2011 by Danny in / 7 Comments

Hello, dear reader!!!

I hope you’re having a fabulous Thursday!
I am quite blissful,
thanks for asking,
because as I write this, I have had a glass (or two) or red wine
as I celebrated my ninth wedding anniversary yesterday.

And it got me to thinking…about books.

I know, I know….that’s not very romantic, but actually….it is!

You see, dear reader, what I love above all things in a book is a good romance!

I love a funny romance,
a scary romance,
a romance that is so paranormal it’s almost unreal!!
(Icy cold hands feel good??? Well, color me dazzled and sail me away to Isle Esme!)

So, as I was chatting with my extremely handsome
and utterly understanding husband,
it occurred to me to write a post about the love stories I love most!

And, yes, it’s 5 of them because I also love my Cutie!

1. Edward and Bella from Twilight
(Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer)
Yes, it may be trite but it’s so very true! I love Edward and Bella’s romance. For all it’s flaws, there’s just something so endearing about those two! And, the fact that the trailer for Breaking Dawn came out didn’t hurt!
(I’m sailing away to Isle Esme!!! Who’s with me???)

2. Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton from Romancing Mr. Bridgerton
(Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn)
For anyone who’s ever felt like the girl who never gets noticed (or only gets noticed for ALL the wrong reasons…) this is a love story that will have you laughing and crying in equal measure!! I have never rooted so hard for a heroine to win her hero as I did for Penelope Featherington. And (*spoiler alert*), Mrs. Quinn AlWAYS has the HEA!!! *sigh*

3. Rupert Cynster and Althea Morwellan from A Secret Love
(Cynster series by Stephanie Laurens)
Don’t you just love it when the sparks fly so fast and furious between a couple it’s like the whole book is on fire? That’s how it is for Rupert (Gabriel) and Althea. Of all of Ms. Lauren’s couplings, this is by far my favorite. The attraction between Gabriel and Althea is so great they can barely stand it. And when they finally give in to the feelings they have for each other…. *fans self* Good stuff!!!

4. Tom Jeffcoat and Emily Wollcott from Vows
(by LaVryle Spencer)
Tom and Emily don’t have sparks…they’re an inferno! They feel so passionately for each other (admittedly in a negative fashion at first) that it’s impossible to look away from them. And when they begin to develop feelings of a romantic nature for each other, it’s like a train wreck of angels…too beautiful to look away, to horrible to want for one’s self. I think I love this story so much, simply because I get to experience the guilty pleasure of loving the “wrong” person without having to live it!

5. Lisey and Scott Landon from Lisey’s Story
(by Stephen King)
Like many of Stephen King’s stories, it’s not the horror that is at the heart of the tale but the relationships between the main characters. This is never more evident than in Lisey’s Story, where Lisey must fight for her very sanity and the memories of what was good and true about her husband. A testament to the fact that marriage is more about how you love one another through the rough times than it is about the romance and sex and babies in the good times, Lisey’s Story is truly a must read.

So…those are my romantic (sort of) picks that I would share with you on my ninth anniversary!

Leave me a little gift in the comments and tell my your favorite love story

Now go and get lost…in a book!

First off, happy anniversary!!! Hope you and the hubby had a wonderful day!!!

For me, the couple that just leaps off the pages and stays with you long after the end is Oliver and Jenny from Erich Segal's Love Story. They're love always makes me hopeful, then leaves me heartbroken, each and every time.

    Smiles!
    Lori
