Read Across The World DayPart 1

Posted 2 March, 2010 by Danny in / 16 Comments

I love to read. This may be a shock, I realize, as I write for a book blog. And I’m willing to bet, dear reader, that you’re here because you like to read too. Clever logic, no?

Every year there are even more great books, in every genre, as writers keep doing that thing they do. And in the USA, today is National Read Across America Day, in honor of that icon of early childhood literacy, Dr. Seuss. But here at the Bookworms, we’re making this a worldwide event because we are an international blog thanks to our fabulous founder, Danny, and our many international followers!

So in honor of Dr. Seuss, the importance of literacy in general and, dare I say, for the benefit of all humankind, take a few moments out of your day today and read. Read for yourself, read to a child, recommend a great book to a friend. When we read we become better people, if for no other reason than we have listened to a new voice.

And don’t forget to leave us a comment and tell us how YOU will be celebrating today. What book will you be reading? Who will you be reading to? What’s you’re favorite quote about reading? And while you’re at it, take a picture of yourself reading and send it to us at bewitchingbookworms@gmail.com and you can be part of our parade of literate hotties!

As an incentive, here’s a picture of me, in all my early morning glory, with the book I’m reading now, in the room we affectionately refer to as the library.

I’ll be doing a recap tonight, so I’ll see you all then.

Now go and get lost…in a book!

Tre'Cool! Today I will be reading "Water for Elephants" or maybe "Beastly" I have yet to decide lolz. I'll have Mick take my pic when he gets home. Happy Birthday Dr. SUESS!! You made the magic happen and planted a little seed inside every child's heart that has grown with them throughout the years to become their love for books 😉

I'm reading CATCH-22 with my students and for pleasure I'm currently reading MARRIED PAST REDEMPTION, which is a Regency romance — total fluff, but I needed it after the rough month I had in February.

What a cool idea this blog is! I love YA fiction – mostly reading only that right now with a few exceptions. I am in the second book of "The Walker Papers" and this series by C. E. Murphy is really good so far. The first book in the series is "Urban Shaman." Urban fantasy rocks!! "Evermore" was pretty good, too; haven't started "Blue Moon," a sequel yet.
