When I was a little girl I wanted to be a secretary.

my own filing cabinet sounded
far too freaking wonderful.

Wellll…
Now that I’m a little older,
those dreams have passed and in their place
another fantasy has taken hold of me.
I long to be in a fairy tale.
I don’t care if I’m a princess,
a fairy godmother,
or a toad in the background,
just as long as I get to be apart of Fairyland.
I think that’s why I love Disneyland so much…
*day dreams about the land of the Disney*

Today’s list includes a few of my favorite fairy tale type stories.
Let us begin:

The Princess Bride is a tongue and cheek tale
that will have you laughing out loud.
2. Neil Gaiman’s Stardust
in my humble opinion. Poetically written,
yet with a modern feel, Stardust had me
swooning, cheering, and on the edge of my seat.
as they travel through Faerie meeting all sorts of strange folk.
I loved loved loved this book and I highly recommend it.
3. Weis and Hickman’s Dragonlance Chronicles
Caramon Majere, Raistlin Majere, Flint Fireforge,
Tasslehoff Burrfoot, and Kitiara Uth Matar,
Dragonlance is the story of a small band of beings who are
trying to save their homeland Ansalon.
The series starts with the first three books:
Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Dragons of Winter Night
Dragons of Spring Dawning
My lovely Mr. Cutie introduced me to these books
and I’ve thanked the stars ever since.
It turns out I’m not the only Bookworm who loved these books.
I received emails from both Pushy and Mrs. V when they
saw it on my Goodreads list. Definitely a must if you
enjoy the fantasy genera.
4. J. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit
I think it’s a combination of
and the fact that it’s a wonderful story.

5. C. S. Lewis’ The Magician’s Nephew
side note: this is totally the cover on my copy.
Out of all the Chronicle of Narnia books,
The Magician’s Nephew is hands down my favorite.
Now it’s the first in the Chronicle series,
however, back in the day it was book 6.
Documenting the creation of Narnia,
Lewis sends the reader on a journey through many worlds.

Looking for something based on reality?
How about Water for Elephants.
I had never given much thought to circus life.
Water for Elephants gives us a glimpse into a different world,
one not many of us will ever experience. While I felt the end was
rushed, overall, I truly enjoyed reading this book.
True love, angst, danger, historical facts, and humor guaranteed.

Oh cutie!!! lovely post! *sighs* The Dragonlance chronicles are just beyond awesome! Actually it was my former BF how introduced me to them, which is by now 12 years ago. Gosh that sounds freaking old. But I loved them, I loved the characters and the whole world… Awesomeness for sure, I nearly forgot about them but then I saw you and pushy added them in goodreads and I did a little squee realizing that I read them too and loved them like HELL!!The Little Hobbit: Sure thing I read that and funnily we read that in our German classes, I think in middle grade. Our teaches was a fun guy and wanted to read something else apart from normal classic literature. Awesome, hu? I will definitely check out your other suggestions! @ Mrs. V – I knew you'd love the Drangonlance shout out! *jumps up and down clapping* Mr. Cutie is not a big reader, so if he says he likes something I will read it right away. Funny enough, I think the first time I read the series was 12 years go as well! We also have the series right after that one, I just can't remember the name of it right now, something about the Twins. hm…The Hobbit is awesomeness personified. The end on that one. 😉

You can't seriously mean there are people who haven't watched "The Princess Bride"!!!!! That's the best movie EVER! It's in my top 5 all time favorite movies. I even own it on bluray.Thanks for the recs!! I'm buying more books than I can possibly ever read lately 😉

Yes! I loved this post!!! OK 1. Might be one of my fav books – it was always a fav movie then a former BF (his only redeeming quality) gave me the book for xmas, and underlined some of the mushy stuff that he loved (for me, of course)…and it's the only good that came out of that relationship. And Yes ADORE the movie. Cary Ewles…..*sigh*2. I've seen the movie Stardust and was completely surprised that I liked it! I think itwas free on HBO or something when we were getting it illegally. Anywhoo – i def am going to check out the book!3. WHAT! I have never heard of these! Adding to hold list NOW!4. @ fragile – I know right? The amount of books I've bought lately is frankly embarrassing… @ uhyesplease – I had a feelin' you'd like the Tolkien rec. The book Stardust is slightly different from the movie, me thinks you will like it. As for Water for Elephants, I also think you will enjoy it! Like I said, the ending is a little rushed but it's a unique book none the less. @ Annie – I want to read more Gaiman. He's got a fantastic imagination and he's such a beautiful writer! His style reminds me of a little bunny I know….

The Hobbit is a lot of fun, but I still liked the Lord of the Rings better. I think it is a better told story, though I like all the books.
