Besotted, Bemusedand oh so definitely BEWITCHED

Everyone has met this girl. The one with her nose stuck in a book, or to update the analogy, the one who’s eyes are glued to her Kindle. The one who looks forward to a long flight or train commute because she has a new novel she’s been dying to read. The girl who falls in love with a fictional character because she’s so enthralled by a story. Yes, we’ve all met this girl, but what happens when EIGHT versions of this girl meet each other?

They form a bookblog of course!
Eight wonderful women who love to read and recommend and write (blog posts at least) have teamed up to give you, yes you, dear reader, the benefit of our obsession with the written word. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, allow us to present the Bookworms:

*waves* Hi, I’m Danny although most of you probably know me better as Mrs.Vanquish but here I’m just and plain : Danny!
I’m working on my PhD in Biology right now and in my free time I love to blog, design blogs and read read read…. I always loved to read and my hubs always rolls his eyes when I pack for our holidays and in the luggage are 5 or even more big books! (That’s why he bought me a Kindle now.. and I looooveee my Kindle!)
I love reading books which bring me into another world and let me life for a few hours somewhere else and be someone else. I’m an extremely emotional person and the best books are those who go straight into my heart and that water my eyes… ;)
My favorite books … Hard to say, but when I have to judge it from how often I reread a book it’s Twilight (yes you can all roll your eyes, but true is true) and the Outlander books, also those I reread a few times!

Just the knowledge that good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.

– Kathleen Norris

Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own.

– William Hazlitt

A book must be an ice-axe to break the seas frozen inside our soul.

– Franz Kafka

My favorite books are almost all fiction. I love a good story, the kind that whisks me out of my own life and brings me to a world where I can lose myself for a while. I love YA, horror, mysteries, historical fiction and romance (oh, how I LOVE romance) especially historical romance…especially (here’s where I cringe) Regency Era historical romance.
My favorite authors are Stephen King, Julia Quinn, Margaret Atwood and Salman Rushdie.

You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.
– Ray Bradbury

A room without books is like a body without a soul.
– Cicero

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.
– Salman Rushdie

PhD Analytical Chemist, mom of one perfect son, wife of a video game enthusiast. I devour books and music in my free time.

“I am never long, even in the society of her I love, without yearning for the company of my lamp and my library.”

-Lord Byron

“Science is uneasy with beginnings. Mythology is concerned above all with what happened ‘in the beginning’. Its signature is ‘Once upon a time’.”

-Dudley Young

“Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disfranchised. No barrier of the senses shuts me out from the sweet, gracious discourse of my book-friends. They talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness.”

-Helen Keller
My name is Ang, some call me cutie, and I’m a bookaholic. When I was little I was told I was dyslectic and was written off as a dummy (That’s a true story!). But a sweet little nun realized there was something else going on, and, to my great relief, after hours of physical therapy I was able to read. And boy, did I ever read! It’s like I’m making up for lost time. From Machiavelli’s The Prince to David Shannon’s Alice the Fairy, as C.S. Lewis would say “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

I’m a stay at home mother of four, the wife of my bestest friend, and a college student who is slowly earning an English degree. I can potty mouth with the best of them, but tend to keep things PG. I’m a part time Vegan with a sock obsession who loves writing, listening to music, blogging, baking, and daydreaming about my second tattoo.
When Mrs. V asked us to pick a quote to share will y’all my brain about imploded. I kinda like-a me the quotes, from Dr. Seuss to Augustine of Hippo and everything in between. I decided to go with:
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
— Dr. Seuss
e.e. cummings said it a little more eloquently:
“To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.”

I love books of every kind, but prefer the types that make me cry for some reason. My favorites include: The Princess Bride, The Time Travelers Wife, the Lord of the Rings series, The Gunslinger series, Twilight Saga, Harry Potter series, The Shack, The Outlander (tho the rest of the books, not so great). These are just a few books that I’ve read more than once, and own. They are on a very short list!I read often, and quickly and very rarely do not finish a book once I start it, even if it’s not my cup of tea. I always think it will reedem itself in the end.

I am an English teacher who is madly in love with books and maybe even a fictional character or two. My favorite books include The English Patient, The History of Love, and Pride and Prejudice.

“The love of learning,
The sequestered nooks,
And all the sweet serenity of books.”

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Fire Crotch here. I’m a healthcare consultant who travels all the time = lots of time to read and browse books in the airport. I’ve got some degrees and other jank, but I’m most proud of the fact that I made it through college without taking a single English class…sorry Cutie and Annie!
My earliest memories of books was jumping in bed with my mom and having her read to me before she went off to work. Then she made me learn to read on my own, drat! Some of my earliest favorites were the Little House on the Prairie books. My love grew as I got older (and I had a kick-ass English teacher), and some of my favorites still are from that year in high school: The Catcher in the Rye, A Tale of Two Cities, Moby Dick (okay, not the last one). And now that I’m in my 30s, I really have expanded into erudite works: the Twilight Saga, Sookie Stackhouse series, Black Dagger Brotherhood, and any chick lit book that has pink on it that you can find. Oh, and I love everything by John Irving. He is crazy awesome (oh, and he’s a total DILF).

Through my Twilight addiction and acquisition of a Kindle (thanks DH!), I’ve rediscovered my love of reading. A voracious reader as a child and teenager, I mostly read textbooks through college and computer manuals since then. I didn’t even read Twilight until I watched the movie, and now I can’t stop reading.
A web developer for longer than I can remember, I live in Alabama with my DH, two dogs, and more tech than two geeks can shake a stick at. Fanfic now rules my life, and I write as well as read it.
Favorite authors: Frank Herbert, Madeleine L’Engle, Harper Lee, Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare (shut it!), Jane Austen, Maeve Binchy
Favorite books: Dune series (the ones by Frank Herbert), A Wrinkle in Time, Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights (I know), To Kill a Mockingbird, The Stand (Stephen King), The Year of Magical Thinking (Joan Didion)
Books I Hate: Old Man and Sea, anything by Nathaniel Hawthorne, To The Lighthouse
Favorite Quote:
In the world it is called Tolerance, but in Hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die. ~ Dorothy L. Sayers
So this is who we are. We hope that you will come to enjoy our thoughts on the books we present as much as we’ll enjoy bringing them to you.

A couple of things we hope you’ll take note of:

Yes, we have a forum. This is where we’ll be taking the discussion of the books we review off line with you, dear reader. If you want to really hash out the characters you loved (or HATED), the plot twists or anything else, this will be the place to go. Every book we review will have a thread on the forum where we can discuss it in length. Also, this is where any comments with SPOILERS should go. This way you can read the comments on a review and not worry that you will stumble upon any spoilers, those will all be in the forum.

While we’re going to be giving our opinions of a book in each review, we’re interested in finding out what you think of a book! We understand not everyone has the time to write out a comment on what you liked or didn’t. If not, just click your pick and you’re on your way!

And that’s it for the housekeeping. Our first review will be posting shortly, so please click on the Followers button so you get notified in your feed (or follow us on Twitter where you’ll see us tweet about it).

Now go and get lost…in a book!

OOH I am so excited about this. I have always been a big reader. Unfortunatley for the last six months or so I can not tear myself away form fanfic to read anything else so this will be good for me to get back out there into the land of non-Twilight related books again. I think its about. Not that I am going to give up fanfic- gasp!
